Processing stays on your device. Large or long videos can be slow and memory heavy; on phones keep files under about 200 MB.

How to use the video converter

  1. Drop a video into the box or click it to choose one.
  2. Pick the output format: MP4, WebM or GIF.
  3. Choose resolution, quality and, for GIF, the frame rate and clip length.
  4. Click Convert, wait for the progress bar, then Download.

Which output should I choose?

  • MP4 (H.264): plays on every phone, browser, TV and editor. The safe choice, and the fix for MOV files that will not open on Windows.
  • WebM (VP8): smaller files for websites; encoding is slower.
  • GIF: silent looping clips for chats and docs. Best for a few seconds of footage.

Frequently asked questions

Which video formats are supported?

Input: MP4, MOV (iPhone), WebM, MKV, AVI, M4V and most other common containers. Output: MP4 (H.264 + AAC, plays everywhere), WebM (VP8 + Opus) and animated GIF.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Conversion runs locally in your browser with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Only the converter engine itself is downloaded once; your file never leaves your device.

Why is it slow?

Browser video encoding uses a single CPU thread and is several times slower than desktop apps. A one minute 1080p clip can take a few minutes. Lower the resolution or pick the Fast preset to speed it up.

Is there a file size limit?

The engine runs in browser memory, so files above roughly 500 MB to 1 GB may fail, especially on phones. For long videos, trim first with the Media Trimmer.

How do I make a good GIF?

GIFs get large quickly. Keep clips under about 10 seconds, use 480 px wide or smaller and 10 to 15 fps. The tool builds an optimized palette for better colors.
