How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example 15% of 80 is 80 × 15 / 100 = 12.
How is percentage change calculated?
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value and multiply by 100. Going from 50 to 65 is (65 − 50) / 50 × 100 = 30% increase.
What percent is X of Y?
Divide X by Y and multiply by 100. 18 out of 24 is 18 / 24 × 100 = 75%.
How do I add or remove a percentage, like tax or a discount?
To add 20%, multiply by 1.20. To take 20% off, multiply by 0.80. Use the fourth calculator for this.
